Our Academy

in our Academy

Every season in our Academy is a new opportunity for young artist to develop their skills with personalized training in styling, inspired by major salons like Vidal Sassoon. The program lasts several months, allowing students to evolve technically and creatively. The Academy is managed by Silvana Melfi, stylist and associate.

We believe continuing education is essential.
It feeds our creativity and stimulates individual development. A variety of training programs relating to team roles are available. Designed to encourage talent development, team members have the opportunity to take external courses. We offer a 70/30 program, in which 70% of traning fees are paid by Au Premier.

Owners : Dorys Bélanger and Silvana Melfi

  • 1982 – First snip of the scissors. Owner Dorys Bélanger launches the business. Ten young professionals, a thousand square feet.
  • 2000 – First snip of the scissors. Owner Dorys Bélanger launches the business. Ten young professionals, a thousand square feet.
  • 2002 – After 15 years as a collaborator, Silvana Melfi becomes an associate. She creates an internal training program that helps team members maintain ongoing professional development.
  • 2004 – Au Premier takes over the 2nd floor of the building and builds a high-end spa. An immediate success.
  • 2006 – The Academy is created to encourage continuous professional refinement among team members, and to maintain the high standards that have become the company’s hallmark.
  • 2008 – Au Premier renovates and re-designs its two floors.
  • 2009 – Installation of a medical-grade sterilization centre for hand and foot care. The company starts offering laser treaments and keratine hair straightening.
  • 2010 -Au premier continues its evolution, and maintains its reputation as one of the finest salons in the greater Montréal region.
  • 2013 – Now a team of 75, a complete range of services, and 7,500 square feet.
